New Moon in Taurus

As I’m writing this, the moon has already left the cozy earth sign of Taurus and crested into Gemini. Taurus is ruled by Venus, and in true Taurus fashion, I spent the weekend reveling in Venusian delights (ie. gardening, grazing on snack plates, lounging) and couldn’t be rushed to publish this florascope on time. But alas, better late than never.

The Moon

In the last florascope reading for the full moon, we discussed how the sign of Scorpio is associated with death. Opposite the sign of Scorpio we have Taurus, a sign associated with life, fertility, and the pleasures that make life worth living. As such, the moon in Taurus wants us slow down, ground, and engage our senses; touch, taste, smell, sight, sound.

The Flowers

The flowers for this new moon are chosen for their ability to engage the senses and to capture Taurean qualities of pleasure and abundance.

Bleeding heart

Small, heart-shaped flowers that are generously clustered on their stems to symbolize Venus, the ruling planet of Taurus.

Anthurium

These beauties look like massive shiny hearts. This one in particular is pink with a tinge of green, the two colors associated with Venus.

Pussy Willow

Taurus knows a thing or two (or ten) about creature comforts, and these pussy willows are definitely one - it’s hard to resist rubbing these soft little blooms on your face.

Lily of the Valley

Lilies are often associated with the moon since some of them open under moonlight. Lily of the valley is a tiny flower with an intoxicating fragrance that can often fill a room with only a few blooms.

Bells of Ireland

Long stalks of clustered green flowers to represent lush and fertile qualities of Taurus. To the untrained eye, these flowers appear more like leaves, and often catch people by surprise with their distinct fragrance.

Rose

No Taurus bouquet would be complete without a Rose, the quintessential symbol of Venus. Soft petals, fragrant smell, and… thorns? Yes! While Venus is usually remembered for its associations with love and beauty, it also rules justice - which can require being a thorn in someones side from time to time. Have you ever gotten in a fight with a Taurus? No, thank you!
